More physics-based puzzle sequences are part of the action, and a new vehicle type lets Freeman traverse the expansive environments with one of the game's non-player characters, who will automatically man a gun turret to provide protection against oncoming threats. An emphasis on open-ended encounters means players can accomplish objectives in multiple ways, using the terrain as part of their strategy to deal with hostile creatures such as Hunters, Striders, and Antlions. Players will engage new enemy variants and factions while fighting alongside rebel forces in forest regions, underground tunnels, base camps, and more. While the Citadel is little more than charred rubble, the danger is far from over. The second installment in Valve's planned trilogy, Half-Life 2: Episode Two continues the first-person exploits of scientist Gordon Freeman as he moves away from City 17 and into uncharted territory.
